Homework policies and expectations
Math
There will be math homework Monday night through Thursday night. It is due back at school the following day. The math homework is generally a continuation of the day's lesson. The "Reteaching" side of the homework worksheet has a section on the top of the page which reviews the lesson and will help you help your child if necessary.
Most math homework assignments will be available in the tab: Math Homework Pages.
Facts Practice:
Each student will be given a weekly (timed) facts test to see how they are progressing on the automaticity of their math facts. All students start with addition, then move to subtraction, and finally multiplication. Our facts tests are usually on the last day of the week.
Once your child receives his or her score back on the facts test (typically on the first day of the week), as part of your child's math homework, we ask that your student complete a blank copy of the facts test that they are on so that we know that they are practicing. The completed blank copy is due back on Friday (or the last day of the week).
Flashcard practice or online math games can be helpful as well.
